Doyen
of the Indian meetings business, industry pioneer, and great friend to ICCA,
our Honorary Member Ghulam Naqshband sadly passed away on 5 March 2010 in
Delhi at the venerable age of 89, having been actively working on
projects until the last. Ghulam, a past Board member and Vice
President of ICCA, was so looking forward to attending this year's Congress in
Hyderabad, which in many ways represented the culmination of all he had worked
for throughout his long and distinguished career, an event which is
a symbol that India is finally becoming recognised as
a great international destination for meetings. Ghulam will be remembered
as one of the industry's true gentlemen, a mentor to many of today's leading
professionals, a great ambassador for his country, and a loyal friend to
many current and past ICCA members. He will be remembered and
missed, especially by his colleagues in ICE-Integrated Conference & Event
Management, and Le Passage to India.
